Baroque and contemporary Italian music for recorders and traverso, with Francis Colpron

This recital by Francis Colpron will consist of modern music and of works from the Italian baroque. Contrary to custom, the 20th-century works will be played before those of the 18th and 17th centuries - hence the concert’s title, which means “back to front.” In the first part of the concert you will hear some extraordinary recent compositions for solo recorder; the second part will be devoted to sonatas by Geminiani, and Veracini for traverse flute and basso continuo and the virtuoso recorder will return in a third part, to be heard this time in brilliant compositions by Fontana, Cima, Palestrina and Ruffo. He will play with Mélisande Corriveau on baroque cello and Alexander Weimann on harpsichord.
