Contrary to custom, the 20th-century works will be played before those of the 18th and 17th centuries - hence the concert’s title, which means “back to front.” In the first part of the concert you will hear some extraordinary recent compositions for solo recorder; the second part will be devoted to sonatas by Geminiani, and Veracini for traverse flute and basso continuo and the virtuoso recorder will return in a third part, to be heard this time in brilliant compositions by Fontana, Cima, Palestrina and Ruffo. He will play with Mélisande Corriveau on baroque cello and Alexander Weimann on harpsichord. |
