A Word from the Artistic Director
Les Boréades have existed for 12 years now, and take great pleasure in the prospect of seeing you our dear and loyal public, once again. It’s true that the repertoire we take on is inexhaustible: it includes not only indisputable masterpieces, but also little-known works full of charming surprises. Our coming season will be distinguished, as always, by the diversity, audacity, and novelty, and by the high quality of the musicians who share with us their passion for music. It begins with an Italian program, La Geniale, in which concertant music for strings by Scarlatti, Vivaldi, and Albinoni will have star billing. Then, in February, Apothéoses françaises will feature works by the two masters of French instrumental music at the end of the reign of Louis XIV, François Couperin and Marin Marais. For our third concert, Tutti col l’oboe, we will have the pleasure of welcoming the exceptional oboist Alfredo Bernardini, founder and member of the prestigious Zéfiro ensemble, in a varied program of sonatas and concertos. Finally, in our last concert, Molière en musique, the actors Sophie Faucher and Carl Béchard and a large cast of musicians will present selected scenes from Molière’s plays, to the music Lully and Charpentier wrote for these plays. And next month, we’ll have the pleasure of offering to you our 15th recording: a CD of sonatas (or concertos) for recorder and strings by Allessandro Scarlatti, with your humble servant as soloist. If we are so productive it is thanks to you, our kind audience, who support our activities and appreciate our work. In the name of all the members of the ensemble, I wish you an excellent evening, and a wonderful season with the Boréades! Francis Colpron |
