A Word from the Artistic DirectorThis year, the ensemble Les Boréades celebrate its 13th birthday! We do not fear bad luck, though, for we have your support, and we are confident that the diversity of concerts we plan in the coming year will please you. There will be theatre, vocal virtuosity, a collaboration with the choral forces of the Studio de musique ancienne, and a concert on a quite original theme. Unexpected circumstances prevented us from presenting Molière en musique last year, as planned, but it will be the opening show of the coming season. A collaboration with Sophie Faucher and Carl Béchard, it will consist of selected scenes from plays by Molière with music written for them by Lully and Charpentier. Vivaldi is always popular, and his vocal music always seductive, particularly when performed by Karina Gauvin, the exceptional artist who will join us once again for a concert entitled Vivaldi furioso. In O liebe Seele, we join forces with the Studio de musique ancienne for a concert of selected cantatas by Bach. Finally, in Bestiaire des plats pays (A Netherlands Bestiary), a recorder quartet will explore the ways in which composers from Flanders and Holland have described, in the past and in the present, the lives of our friends the animals. It is thanks to the encouragement of our dear, faithful, and appreciative audience that we are so imaginative! In the name of our entire team I wish you an enjoyable season with Les Boréades.
