F. Bach and Kuhlau
Alexa Raine-Wright and Francis Colpron, trversos

The traverso, intimate and sensitive, enjoyed great popularity in the 18th century. Some criticized its imprecise tuning and unequal sonorities, but composers knew how to cleverly take advantage of these ‘defects’… Flute-making technique evolved continually. By the middle of the century, traversos had keys that served to increase the volume and clarity of their low notes, thus enabling flutists to hold their own when accompanied. The most ambitious works written for traverso were, without a doubt, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach’s Six Duets for Two Flutes; in their complexity and near-Romantic ferocity of expression they are astonishing.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_empty_space][icon_text box_type=”normal” icon=”fa-calendar” icon_type=”normal” icon_position=”left_from_title” icon_size=”fa-lg” use_custom_icon_size=”no” title_tag=”h5″ separator=”no” separator_top_margin=”0″ separator_bottom_margin=”0″ title=”Thursday February 24 2022, 7:30 p.m” icon_color=”#7d9dce”][qode_advanced_pricing_list pricing_items=”%5B%7B%22item_title%22%3A%22Regular%22%2C%22item_price%22%3A%2240%24%22%7D%2C%7B%22item_title%22%3A%22Senior%22%2C%22item_price%22%3A%2235%24%22%7D%2C%7B%22item_title%22%3A%2230%20%20years%20and%20younger%22%2C%22item_price%22%3A%2215%24%22%7D%5D” list_title_tag=”h5″ line_style=”dashed” item_title_tag=”p” list_title=”Billetterie” line_color=”#000000″][vc_column_text]

On sale at the Eventbrite box office
Taxes and fees included

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]

[vc_empty_space][icon_text box_type=”normal” icon=”fa-map-marker” icon_type=”normal” icon_position=”left_from_title” icon_size=”fa-lg” use_custom_icon_size=”no” title_tag=”h5″ separator=”no” title=”Address” icon_color=”#7d9dce”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1632602233419{margin-top: -35px !important;border-top-width: -35px !important;padding-top: -35px !important;}”]

Chapelle Saint-Louis
4230 Rue Drolet, Montréal
QC H2W 2L6

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=”” background_color=”#dee7f1″ padding_top=”64″ padding_bottom=”16″][vc_column css_animation=”none” width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”24369″ img_size=”500×500″ alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” qode_css_animation=”” qode_hover_animation=”zoom_in” link=”http://www.alexarainewright.com/about.html”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Alexa Raine-Wright

Traverso

Known for her spirited and luminous sound, Baroque flute and recorder player Alexa Raine-Wright shares her eloquent interpretations with audiences across North America in solo, chamber and orchestral performances.
